We started with a drum solo.
I'm Veronica, and I'm from Sardinia, Italy. I was already an adult — 26 years old — when I walked into my cousin's dance recital and watched a drum solo performance that stopped me in my tracks. The music, the movement, the energy: something clicked that I hadn't even known was missing.
I wasn't a dancer. I had no background, no training, no plan. But belly dance had found me, and I couldn't let it go.
I'll probably never perform on a professional stage — and honestly, that's okay. What I discovered is that belly dance isn't just for professionals. It's for every body, every age, every journey. It's self-expression. It's confidence. It's joy, cultural appreciation, wellbeing, and — above all — a place to belong.
That's why I created Hip Drop Nation.
Because I wanted to celebrate this art form in my own way. Because I wanted to create a connection with everyone who loves belly dance as much as I do — whether you've been dancing for twenty years or you're still working up the courage to take your first class.
Hip Drop Nation exists to help belly dancers feel seen, proud, and connected. Our apparel is a wearable reminder that every shimmy deserves celebration — no matter where you are in your journey.
